This Act mandates that most business owners (including most small business owners) file a Beneficial Ownership Information (BOI) Report with the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN), a division of the Treasury Department, by January 1st, 2025 (for entities existing prior to January 1, 2024) or within 90 days of formation for new entities established during 2024. With civil and criminal penalties for willful noncompliance, it is crucial for affected businesses, including most corporations and LLCs, to timely comply with these new requirements.
